Original Deviation

She is the girl who stands atop a hill, smiling, to watch a thunderstorm. She is the girl who plays in busy streets, dancing from lane to lane so gracefully it looks like she isn’t even trying not to get hit. She is the girl who puts on fancy dresses with sparkling high-heels just so she can walk around her room feeling like a princess. She is the girl who eats all her desserts with an extra sprinkling of sugar like fairy dust. She is the girl who takes pictures of her and her friends together, to make sure that she never forgets what they look like when they laugh. She is the girl who giggles over celebrity crushes while wondering if her love for Hollywood boys is making someone jealous.

She is the girl who loves that her mom always makes her a bowl of soup when she stays home sick. She is the girl who sometimes doesn’t call back just to see if the other person calls again instead. She is the girl who wishes she could attend her own funeral. She is the girl who always admired the courage required for suicide. She is the girl who first took her dad’s pills because she made a threat she couldn’t refuse. She is the girl who is so afraid of love that she fakes it instead. She is the girl who lies because she wants boys to like her. She is the girl who puts herself down so that someone else can pick her up. She is the girl who planned her fairy-tale future, but doesn’t have a solid plan for getting there.

She doesn’t know it yet, but I am the king of her fairy-tale kingdom, and some day, she will be my queen.
